Not ten minutes after taking possession of the keys, the Atomic Buffalo receives its first modification: a CAGS Eliminator. CAGS (Computer-Aided Gear Selection) locks out second gear under light load, forcing the driver over to fourth gear. This improves fuel economy under government testing enough that Corvette escapes the federal gas-guzzler tax. This is all fine and dandy, but we did not purchase a Corvette for its in-town fuel economy. The CAGS Eliminator completes the CAGS circuit without actually engaging the transmission lockout mechanism.
